Three Turks, of Kurdish origin as they claim, were arrested in Thessaloniki, Greece for illegal possession of firearms, today (4 Dec 2024).
The three Turks were spotted by Hellenic Police during a routine check on the sidewalk of Vasileos Georgiou Avenue (King George av.), in the center of Thessaloniki.
As soon as they saw the Policemen they started running and 2 of them entered a beauty salon. They arrested and Police found in their possession two pistols (a Glock and a Canik) and 35 rounds of 9mm ammunition (20 in the Glock, 15 in the Canik). They have bullet in pistol’s chamber.
The third Turk, who initially fled, was located in an apartment on Vasilissis Olgas (Queen Olga av.), where a pistol was also found.
During the investigation, it was found that they are holders of temporary identity cards of asylum seekers and they claim that they had the weapons for self-defense.
