Rudy Youngblood, the Hollywood actor renowned for his leading role in Mel Gibson’s “Apocalypto,” is currently being held at the Galatsi police station in Athens and faces potential deportation.

The 42-year-old actor has been in Greece since late August for a film shoot, but his visa expired at the end of November, which allows for a stay of up to 90 days.

Youngblood was apprehended by police during a routine sweep in the early hours of December 27, 2024. According to reports, he claims that the officers involved were not wearing any identifying insignia and did not explain the reason for his stop or his rights. This lack of clarity, compounded by a language barrier, led to confusion on Youngblood’s part regarding their authority. He was subsequently charged with resisting arrest, making threats, and carrying a weapon after being found in possession of a pocketknife.

Following his arrest, Youngblood was brought before a court without the usual three-day postponement. He received a 10-month prison sentence with a three-year suspension. After the trial, it was revealed that his visa had expired, resulting in an administrative deportation order being issued against him.

Youngblood has stated that he was advised by his doctor not to travel due to ongoing health issues. He reportedly believed that these medical circumstances justified his extended stay in Greece until it was safe for him to return home.
