The French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle docked in Faliro as part of the Clemenceau 25 mission. Top Greek and French defense officials to meet in Athens.

On Saturday, April 12, 2025, the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle arrived at Faliro Bay as part of the ongoing naval operation Clemenceau 25.

Vice Admiral Dimitrios–Eleftherios Kataras, Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, paid an official courtesy visit aboard the aircraft carrier. He was welcomed by Rear Admiral Jacques Mallard, Commander of Task Force 473, and Captain Georges-Antoine Florentin, the commanding officer of Charles de Gaulle. Admiral Kataras also represented General Dimitrios Choupis, Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff (GEETHA).

French Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu is scheduled to arrive in Athens on Holy Monday, April 14, 2025. He will hold official talks with Greece’s Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias.

As part of their joint agenda, the two defense ministers are expected to visit the French frigate ALSACE (D656), which is currently anchored at the Port of Piraeus. The ALSACE is part of the strike group accompanying the Charles de Gaulle.
