Two Kurdish Turks killed in shooting in Glyfada (Athens, Greece). Witnesses report 30 gunshots as authorities investigate.
On December 9, 2024, a shooting incident took place in Glyfada, a suburb of southern Athens, resulting in two fatalities and one injury.
The event occurred shortly after 10 a.m. outside an OPAP gaming store and near a kindergarten at the intersection of Mikras Asias and Lefkosias streets. Witnesses reported hearing approximately 30 gunshots during the incident.
The injured individual is currently receiving treatment at Asklipieio Hospital in Voula, although his condition has not been disclosed.
Reports indicate that the victims are Kurdish Turks. Following the shooting, police from the DIAS motorcycle unit apprehended two suspects who are also described as Kurdish Turks; however, their involvement in the shooting has not yet been confirmed.
As of now, further details regarding the incident remain limited as Hellenic Police continues its investigation.
It is recalled that in different case, three Turks, of Kurdish origin as they claim, were arrested in Thessaloniki, Greece for illegal possession of pistols.
