Donald Trump: The US Ambassadors to Greece and Turkey

Greece - Greek News in EnglishDonald Trump: The US Ambassadors to Greece and Turkey

US President-elect Donald Trump has selected Kimberly Guilfoyle, a former Fox News anchor, as US Ambassador to Greece and Tom Barack as US Ambassador to Turkey.

Kimberly Guilfoyle, 55, is a former Fox News anchor and former district attorney in San Francisco and Los Angeles. She served as an advisor and led the fundraising arm of Donald Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign.

Her mother was Puerto Rican and her father was born in Ireland and immigrated to the United States at the age of 20.

“Today, I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Kimberly Guilfoyle as the United States Ambassador to Greece. For many years, Kimberly has been a close friend and ally. Her extensive experience and leadership in law, media, and politics along with her sharp intellect make her supremely qualified to represent the United States, and safeguard its interests abroad.

Kimberly is perfectly suited to foster strong bilateral relations with Greece, advancing our interests on issues ranging from defense cooperation to trade and economic innovation”, Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Tom Barrack, 77, is a private equity investor in real estate and the founder and executive chairman of Colony Capital. Barrack has been a close friend and supporter of Donald Trump for decades, representing him on television news appearances.

He has been accused in the past of acting illegally as an agent of the United Arab Emirates and was acquitted in 2022 of all nine charges he faced.

Barrack’s grandparents were Lebanese Christians who immigrated to the United States from Zahlé, Lebanon, in 1900.

“I am pleased to announce that Tom Barrack will serve as our next Ambassador to Turkey. For three decades, Tom successfully managed a global private equity firm. He is a well respected and experienced voice of reason to a wide range of thought leaders in both political and business circles. Tom was born and raised in Southern California, and earned a BA and JD from the University of Southern California and University of San Diego where he was a member of Law Review. Congratulations Tom!”, Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social.
