Greece-Turkey CBMs: The 3rd Mechanized Brigade Welcomes Turkish Delegation

Confidence-Building Measures between Greece and Turkey

As part of the Confidence-Building Measures (CBMs) between Greece and Turkey, a meeting between senior military officers of both countries took place in Kavyli, Evros.

The Commander of the 3rd Mechanized Brigade “RIMINI”, Brigadier General Athanasios Foteinoglou, welcomed Brigadier General Bülent Barış Sarp, Commander of Turkey’s 9th Border Brigade, based in Edirne.

The visit of the Turkish Brigadier General and his delegation to Greece (May 6–7) is part of a broader framework of actions that includes:

• A new round of CBM meetings, held on April 28 in Thessaloniki, where the already agreed measures for 2025 were reviewed and the Implementation Plan for 2026 was discussed. The next meeting is expected to take place in Turkey.
• The official visit of the Hellenic National Defence College (HNDC) to the Turkish National Defence University, scheduled to take place from May 6 to 9, according to a statement by the Turkish Ministry of National Defense.
