Greece Nationwide Demonstrations on February 28, 2025 Over Tempi Train Tragedy

Greek NewsGreece Nationwide Demonstrations on February 28, 2025 Over Tempi Train Tragedy

As Greece approaches the two-year anniversary of the Tempi train tragedy, society is preparing for nationwide demonstrations on February 28, 2025.

The demand is clear: answers and guarantees for the safety of the railway network. The accident that claimed the lives of 57 fellow citizens remains an open wound, and the public will not allow it to be forgotten.

Lately, it appears that the Government is attempting to discourage participation in these demonstrations—especially among its own voters. But rail safety is not a matter of political identity. Train passengers come from all backgrounds, and the fear of another tragedy transcends party lines.

Greek Government, here’s a simple truth: even those who voted for New Democracy (ND) travel by train. And their children do too. Speak to the responsible, everyday citizen—not to the trolls, whether they support you or oppose you. Citizens are not calling you “murderers”; they are asking for written assurances that the railway network is now safe. Can you provide them?

The public is not asking for vague assurances but for concrete proof that the railway network is now safe. The Government must present specific data on safety improvements and ensure, unequivocally, that such a disaster will never happen again.

As the anniversary approaches, the families of the victims, passengers, and society as a whole demand answers. Mass participation in the demonstrations will send a clear and resounding message: forgetting is not an option, and public safety must be a non-negotiable priority.
