Greek Special Warfare Command training with 43 Commando Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines
From Tuesday 26 March to Friday 5 April 2024, as part of the military cooperation between Greece and the United Kingdom, bilateral Special Operations Forces (SOF) training occured in the Nea Peramos area.
From the Greek side, personnel and assets from the Special Warfare Command (SWC) of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff (HNDGS) participated, while from the United Kingdom side, personnel and assets from the 43 Commando Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines (43 Cdo FP Gp RM) were involved.
The 43 Commando Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines is a 550-man unit of the Royal Marines responsible for guarding the United Kingdom’s nuclear weapons. The unit, based at HM Naval Base Clyde, is part of 3 Commando Brigade.
The training focused on planning and conducting Close Quarter Battle (CQB) and SOF tactics. Throughout the training, participants had the opportunity to practice in complex operational scenarios, which contributed to the enhancement of combat capabilities as well as the improvement of interoperability.
